Meet The Staff
At The MewsTom Megna - Executive Director
After 28 years of running my own business, I have devoted the last 8 years to the non-profit world, the last four with the Mews. A year ago, I pursued and achieved the Executive Director Certificate from the CT Association of Assisted Living (CALA).
The Mews is both a thriving and welcoming community of Independent Seniors form various backgrounds and careers and a devoted staff whose average length of stay is 5 years. Days are filled with activities and lively conversation. Each day I look forward to engaging in conversation in the dining room, hallways, or in the apartments. It is a microcosm of how fellowship can work in society. Like other Senior Living Residences, we could not avoid the tragedy brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic during the early stages when it struck so quickly and furiously. However, following all state and federal protocols, remaining calm and steadfast, we were able to maintain a Covid free environment since May. Our residents are fully vaccinated. There is a light at the end of the dark tunnel. Nevertheless, we remain vigil.
Lisa Marsili - Nurse Supervisor
I have worked for the Mews for over 16 years. I started as the RN Designee and advanced to being Supervisor of Assisted Living Services in February 2020. My background is extensive in Geriatrics and Home Care.
“This is our Resident’s home and as such our staff treats it precisely that way. I never had the privilege to meet Mrs. Rockefeller (the founder of the Mews), but I feel her presence every day, her spirit and love is within us, and in turn we can give this to our Residents”
Deborah Pennella - Executive Chef
I started at the Mews 50 plus years ago when it first opened as an Assistant. I have a very dedicated staff that keeps the kitchen running smoothly no matter what challenges we may encounter. The quality of food is high. I buy the best I can get, and they allow me to do this. That makes an enormous difference. My focus is to provide healthy and well-balanced meals with emphasis on organic and locally sourced foods. I encourage every resident to meet with me and discuss any preferences they have, and I will do my best to meet their requests.
My journey at the Mews has been extremely rewarding and I am so proud to have been part of this community from the beginning.
The Mews is a Fair Housing & Equal Opportunity Senior Residential Facility.
